Mr.Kanwaljeet Singh vs Ut Of Chandigarh on 22 July, 2013

The Commission has received an appeal petition, dated 22/03/2013 from Shri Kanwaljeet Singh, Chandigarh stating that he/she has received no reply / information from the concerned CPIO in respect his/her RTI-application of 06/11/2012 filed with the CPIO, O/o. the Registration and Licensing Authority, U.T. Chandigarh. The 1st Appeal filed thereafter before the First Appellate Authority of Public Authority has not been adjudicated upon by the First Appellate Authority. A copy of the complaint and the RTI application are enclosed.

2. In exercise of powers vested under Section 18(1) of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the Commission directs the Appellate Authority to enquire into the allegations made by the Appellant and after giving him an opportunity of hearing, to pass an appropriate order with a view to ensuring that the desired information is provided to the Appellant, at the earliest.

3. The Appellate Authority is also directed to obtain the explanation of the Concerned CPIO in writing for not providing the information in time and to forward the same to the
