1. The appellant Smt. A.K. Anujee, submitted RTI application dated 22.02.2014 before the Central Public Information Officer (CPIO), Life Insurance Corporation of India, Divisional Office, Ernakulam seeking information on two points - (1) Complete detailed facts and procedures related to the Vigilance Misc Case No 648; and (2) Copy of full documents pertaining to the policy numbers mentioned in letter dated 8.2.2014 from ED(P), LIC of India, Mumbai.
2. The CPIO, LIC of India, Mumbai vide letter dated 19.03.2014 informed the appellant that the investigation related to the Vigilance Misc. Case No. 648 was exempt u/s 8(1)(h) of the RTI Act, as the matter was still ongoing and the disclosure of information would impede the process of investigation or apprehension or prosecution of offender with reference to point 1; with reference to point 2 the information was denied being third party information under the provisions of Section 8(1)(j) of the RTI Act. Dissatisfied with the reply of the CPIO, the appellant filed an appeal on 01.04.2014 before the first appellate authority (FAA). The FAA vide order dated 25.04.2014 concurred with the decision of the CPIO.
